The festival is eye-catching, to say the least as it comes complete with costumes, feathers, traditional dance, and music ranging from reggae, calypso, soc, and steelpan bands to fill downtown. While the fun is abundant, the festival is also a chance to deepen our understanding and appreciation of Caribbean culture through authentic representation. This festival is massive with over 20,000 people participating in the event each year and 2022 is shaping up to welcome just as many participants. A variety of Caribbean countries are represented across the festivities including Guyana, St. Lucia, Virgin Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, Dominican Republic, Cuba, St. Vincent, Barbados, Grenada, Belize, the Bahamas, and St. Kitts just to name a few.
