Top 5 Local Restaurants

HomeLocal Area GuideOrlando Top 5Top 5 Local Restaurants

Forget about the joy of cooking while on your unforgettable Orlando getaway, because this trip is going to be all about the ecstasy of eating! Yes, it is true that our Tropical Villas Orlando fully equipped kitchens do provide the option for preparing your meals, and there may be a few breakfasts here and there that you will be creating yourself, but when you catch your first glimpse of these five local restaurants Orlando offers, we can promise you will not want to eat anywhere else. Offering bountiful breakfasts, luscious lunches, and dinners so delicious you will wish that you could reverse time and be at the beginning of the meal once again, these five spots will fill your stomachs and feed your souls!

Dixie Belle’s Café, 7125 S Orange Avenue

Southerners are known for offering the stick to your ribs dishes that may not do much for your waistlines but are a balm to your soul, and Dixie Belle’s Café is a prime example! Closed on Mondays but open every other day of the week and serving the classic American dishes you do not want to live without, every bite of every meal promises to be better than the last. The simple country motto of doing good and feeding hungry people is fulfilled every day at Dixie Belle’s, doing so especially well with our favorite dish, the Barnyard King; created with your choice of chicken fried steak or smoked sausage layered on an open biscuit with potatoes and eggs and topped with country gravy so heavenly you will be tempted to lick the plate clean, if you leave hungry after this meal, you must not have finished it!

Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria, 67 N Bumby Avenue

If something different is what you are craving for lunch, Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria has exactly what you are looking for, proving that sandwiches do not have to be boring and that tea time should be all day every day. Their sandwiches are bound to be your new craving, and as you make your way through a menu filled with Ham Brie Tomato Melts and Colossal PB&Js, starving tourists will make short work of the Billy Chang; made with smoked brisket, bleu cheese, strawberry jelly, and red onions, this delicious mixture of sweet, savory, and sublime will definitely fill the emptiest of stomachs and make taste buds stand up and take notice!

Se7en Bites, 617 Primrose Drive

From the outside, the neon green building with hand-painted signs is simple and charming, and the casual vibe inside makes everyone feel at home, but the scents that will greet you at one of the best local restaurants in Orlando will start your mouth watering immediately! Fill your piehole with sweet cookies, cakes, muffins, and yes, pies, and remember that vacation foods have zero calories. Comfort foods include chicken and waffles for breakfast and chicken pot pie for lunch, but whatever you try at this tasty spot, please be sure to save room for a Night Time Sky Pie—heaven has never tasted this good!

3 Sisters Speakeasy, 226 Broadway in Kissimmee

Many of our Tropical Villas Orlando vacation escapes are located in or near Kissimmee, so it is only fair to mention one of our favorite local hot spots, 3 Sisters Speakeasy! It is impossible to miss this corner restaurant featuring green awnings and an outdoor patio where we love to eat on fair weather nights, offering a sophisticated ambience, nightly specials, live music, and an extensive menu that contains everything from calamari appetizers to Argentinean flank steak and shrimp al mojo! Friday night antique car shows make the hearts of the classic car buffs in our lives skip a beat, and their sushi menu has long been a favorite of the locals who eat for ecstasy as well. Trivia Night Tuesdays and live music nearly every other night of the week gives diners a taste of fun as well!

Maxine’s on Shine, 337 Shine Avenue

Here’s the deal: There are so many truly excellent local restaurants Orlando offers, making it difficult to just choose five, so if you have heard about a place that did not make our list, please, go ahead and try it! We can almost guarantee it will be excellent, and although we doubt that it is possible, it may even be tastier than Maxine’s on Shine! A local fixture since opening night in 2012, Maxine’s offers a romantic atmosphere, an outdoor patio, and Bloody Marys you will wish were all you could drink! Channeling the blustery attitudes of the 40s, you almost expect the wait staff to call you pal and offer to light your cigarettes. As for the food, the fried green tomatoes and crab cakes on the appetizer menu, skillet lasagna on the entrée menu, and the classic Florida dessert, key lime pie, are just a few of the meals you will obsess over, so be sure to leave room in your schedule for at least one visit to Maxine’s!
